What Is the Catalyst Score? The Catalyst Score is not a probability but a carefully constructed measure of a company’s ability to foster career advancement. Built on the analysis of over 50 million executive career paths, it uncovers which environments create the conditions for rapid promotion and professional growth.
We standardised every job title and gave each a rank of seniority. Then we studied how people grew in professional maturity in their companies, then we considered how the market treated them when they left that employer. Our exercise began with over 4.4M corporate entities above a certain size, then focused on the top million. With our own backgrounds in fintech and investing, we treated each professional like a stock, and considered whether they would generate more ROI internally (e.g. would they grow in value/rank inside the company) or externally (does the market of other employers value them more than their current employer?). On the dashboard, we have converted this into a percentage probability - above we can see for this particular job role, there's a 10% greaterprobability (ABS) of a promotion in IBM as an IBM employee than in the market as an IBM leaver . Behind the UX, the model simply uses scores to rank the jobs we recommend to you. The scores shouldn't be considered the same as a percentage probability - i.e. Eulogy has a catalyst score of 20.4, but this is not 20%. It is the base metric we then use to build the probability you see above and for other expectancy models.
